Make Sure You Exfoliate Before You Tan Indoors
Posted by Betty P Davis on June 6th, 2008 filed in Pools and SpasIndoor tanning allows a person to get the gorgeous tan they want in less time than outdoors. It fits well into every schedule and you can go tanning even when the weather isn’t cooperating. If you want to get a great looking tan in the least amount of time from it though you need to take the time to exfoliate.
The UV rays that are outdoors are similar to what you will find in a tanning salon. They work the same way so you want your skin to be ready for them. If you don’t exfoliate then you will end up with skin that is very dry. This means your color won’t go as deep into the skin as it could. That means it will take you much longer to develop the base tan color you seek.
It is important to have a very good soap that you use to exfoliate with as well. If it doesn’t contain quality ingredients then you won’t get wonderful results. You want to avoid those that have fragrances with them. While they will smell nice they are also going to dry out your skin. This is the opposite effect of what you should be aiming for.
Liquid soap for exfoliating seems to be less harsh than bars of soap. Most of what you will find out there comes in either form so you can choose what you want. You want to scrub your skin while you exfoliate with a loofa or a wash rag very well. This way you can remove all of the dry and dead skin from your body.
Left over soap on your body is something you need to avoid as well. If you aren’t rinsing off as well as you should then take more time to do so. That left over soap is going to affect your ability to get the best possible tan. It is going to block the UV rays or the sunless tanning spray from getting to your skin like it could. Just a few extra moments to rinse off can prevent this scenario from happening.
How do you dry your body off after you shower? If you quickly wipe all the excess water off with a towel then you need to make some changes here as well. When you exfoliate it leaves the skin below vulnerable. So when you roughly dry it off you damage it. To protect it, slowly pat it dry and you will keep it looking and feeling great. You also need to remember to drink a significant amount of water each day.
Make sure you apply location to your body after it is dried off. It needs to contain a very good moisturizer that will keep your skin healthy all day long. If you have very dry skin then apply it at night before you go to bed as well. This will help you to stay vibrant with your skin throughout the process.
If you plan to get a great indoor tan, then you need to make sure you exfoliate your skin properly. If you don’t exfoliate then you can’t benefit from the results you wanted to have. This one simple process can make the difference between getting a decent tan from the salon and one that is okay but you aren’t impressed with.
